Kagoshima Kabusecha Japanese tea
A highly prized and authentic organic Kabusecha Japanese Tea from Kagoshima made from aged (Kuradashi) first flush spring harvested shade grown organic leaves that have been aged for at least one year before release. Made from a wonderful newer Kagoshima cultivar known as Asanoka!
Here in Halita’tea we made it our mission to find the best Japanese tea available and bring them to our costumers in Israel. We call these teas “Hunters Reserve 2014“.
This organic Kabusecha Japanese Tea, unlike many teas labeled-up to be “kabusecha” (which in many cases are actually just sencha that were lightly covered for a few days prior to harvest), is an authentic Kabusecha Japanese Tea that was covered for a full 15 days prior to harvesting under thick black sheeting, then uncovered to harvest the leaves, deep steamed, fully processed, and placed into storage to begin aging in a special designated storage facility.
The unique aging process this Kabusecha Japanese Tea goes through is known as kuradashi in Japanese which needs a good deal of expertise to achieve. The idea behind this type of aging process of tea leaves is to take away any flavors that might have been a little too prominent or harsh in spring and instead replaces them with deliciously deep sweet mellow flavors. Shade grown teas that age well like this can easily be kept for 2-3 years and usually become more and more deliciously sweet as time passes.
The taste is incredibly theanine-rich with a deep sweet mellow flavor that boasts an excellent refreshing aroma.
